1Bitcoin Core version 0.9.2 is now available from:3https://bitcoin.org/bin/0.9.2/5This is a new minor version release, bringing mostly bug fixes and some minor6improvements. OpenSSL has been updated because of a security issue (CVE-2014-0224).7Upgrading to this release is recommended.9Please report bugs using the issue tracker at github:11https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues13How to Upgrade14--------------16If you are running an older version, shut it down. Wait until it has completely17shut down (which might take a few minutes for older versions), then run the18installer (on Windows) or just copy over /Applications/Bitcoin-Qt (on Mac) or19bitcoind/bitcoin-qt (on Linux).21If you are upgrading from version 0.7.2 or earlier, the first time you run220.9.2 your blockchain files will be re-indexed, which will take anywhere from2330 minutes to several hours, depending on the speed of your machine.25Downgrading warnings26--------------------28The 'chainstate' for this release is not always compatible with previous29releases, so if you run 0.9.x and then decide to switch back to a300.8.x release you might get a blockchain validation error when starting the31old release (due to 'pruned outputs' being omitted from the index of32unspent transaction outputs).34Running the old release with the -reindex option will rebuild the chainstate35data structures and correct the problem.37Also, the first time you run a 0.8.x release on a 0.9 wallet it will rescan38the blockchain for missing spent coins, which will take a long time (tens39of minutes on a typical machine).41Important changes42==================44Gitian OSX build45-----------------47The deterministic build system that was already used for Windows and Linux48builds is now used for OSX as well. Although the resulting executables have49been tested quite a bit, there could be possible regressions. Be sure to report50these on the Github bug tracker mentioned above.52Compatibility of Linux build53-----------------------------55For Linux we now build against Qt 4.6, and filter the symbols for libstdc++ and glibc.56This brings back compatibility with58- Debian 6+ / Tails59- Ubuntu 10.0460- CentOS 6.5620.9.2 Release notes63=======================65The OpenSSL dependency in the gitian builds has been upgraded to 1.0.1h because of CVE-2014-0224.67RPC:69- Add `getwalletinfo`, `getblockchaininfo` and `getnetworkinfo` calls (will replace hodge-podge `getinfo` at some point)70- Add a `relayfee` field to `getnetworkinfo`71- Fix RPC related shutdown hangs and leaks72- Always show syncnode in `getpeerinfo`73- `sendrawtransaction`: report the reject code and reason, and make it possible to re-send transactions that are already in the mempool74- `getmininginfo` show right genproclimit76Command-line options:78- Fix `-printblocktree` output79- Show error message if ReadConfigFile fails81Block-chain handling and storage:83- Fix for GetBlockValue() after block 13,440,000 (BIP42)84- Upgrade leveldb to 1.1786Protocol and network code:88- Per-peer block download tracking and stalled download detection89- Add new DNS seed from bitnodes.io90- Prevent socket leak in ThreadSocketHandler and correct some proxy related socket leaks91- Use pnode->nLastRecv as sync score (was the wrong way around)93Wallet:95- Make GetAvailableCredit run GetHash() only once per transaction (performance improvement)96- Lower paytxfee warning threshold from 0.25 BTC to 0.01 BTC97- Fix importwallet nTimeFirstKey (trigger necessary rescans)98- Log BerkeleyDB version at startup99- CWallet init fix101Build system:103- Add OSX build descriptors to gitian104- Fix explicit --disable-qt-dbus105- Don't require db_cxx.h when compiling with wallet disabled and GUI enabled106- Improve missing boost error reporting107- Upgrade miniupnpc version to 1.9108- gitian-linux: --enable-glibc-back-compat for binary compatibility with old distributions109- gitian: don't export any symbols from executable110- gitian: build against Qt 4.6111- devtools: add script to check symbols from Linux gitian executables112- Remove build-time no-IPv6 setting114GUI:116- Fix various coin control visual issues117- Show number of in/out connections in debug console118- Show weeks as well as years behind for long timespans behind119- Enable and disable the Show and Remove buttons for requested payments history based on whether any entry is selected.120- Show also value for options overridden on command line in options dialog121- Fill in label from address book also for URIs122- Fixes feel when resizing the last column on tables (issue #2862)123- Fix ESC in disablewallet mode124- Add expert section to wallet tab in optionsdialog125- Do proper boost::path conversion (fixes unicode in datadir)126- Only override -datadir if different from the default (fixes -datadir in config file)127- Show rescan progress at start-up128- Show importwallet progress129- Get required locks upfront in polling functions (avoids hanging on locks)130- Catch Windows shutdown events while client is running131- Optionally add third party links to transaction context menu132- Check for !pixmap() before trying to export QR code (avoids crashes when no QR code could be generated)133- Fix "Start bitcoin on system login"135Miscellaneous:137- Replace non-threadsafe C functions (gmtime, strerror and setlocale)138- Add missing cs_main and wallet locks139- Avoid exception at startup when system locale not recognized140- Changed bitrpc.py's raw_input to getpass for passwords to conceal characters during command line input141- devtools: add a script to fetch and postprocess translations143Credits144--------146Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release:148- Addy Yeow149- Altoidnerd150- Andrea D'Amore151- Andreas Schildbach152- Bardi Harborow153- Brandon Dahler154- Bryan Bishop155- Chris Beams156- Christian von Roques157- Cory Fields158- Cozz Lovan159- daniel160- Daniel Newton161- David A.
