1Bitcoin version 0.7.1 is now available from:2http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitcoin/files/Bitcoin/bitcoin-0.7.1/4This is a bug-fix minor release.6Please report bugs using the issue tracker at github:7https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues9Project source code is hosted at github; you can get10source-only tarballs/zipballs directly from there:11https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/tarball/v0.7.1 # .tar.gz12https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/zipball/v0.7.1 # .zip14Ubuntu Linux users can use the "Personal Package Archive" (PPA)15maintained by Matt Corallo to automatically keep16up-to-date. Just type:17sudo apt-add-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin18sudo apt-get update19in your terminal, then install the bitcoin-qt package:20sudo apt-get install bitcoin-qt22KNOWN ISSUES23------------25Mac OSX 10.5 is no longer supported.27How to Upgrade28--------------30If you are running an older version, shut it down. Wait31until it has completely shut down (which might take a few minutes for older32versions), then run the installer (on Windows) or just copy over33/Applications/Bitcoin-Qt (on Mac) or bitcoind/bitcoin-qt (on Linux).35If you were running on Linux with a version that might have been compiled36with a different version of Berkeley DB (for example, if you were using an37Ubuntu PPA version), then run the old version again with the -detachdb38argument and shut it down; if you do not, then the new version will not39be able to read the database files and will exit with an error.41Explanation of -detachdb (and the new "stop true" RPC command):42The Berkeley DB database library stores data in both ".dat" and43"log" files, so the database is always in a consistent state,44even in case of power failure or other sudden shutdown. The45format of the ".dat" files is portable between different46versions of Berkeley DB, but the "log" files are not-- even minor47version differences may have incompatible "log" files. The48-detachdb option moves any pending changes from the "log" files49to the "blkindex.dat" file for maximum compatibility, but makes50shutdown much slower. Note that the "wallet.dat" file is always51detached, and versions prior to 0.6.0 detached all databases52at shutdown.54New features55------------57* Added a boolean argument to the RPC 'stop' command, if true sets58-detachdb to create standalone database .dat files before shutting down.60* -salvagewallet command-line option, which moves any existing wallet.dat61to wallet.{timestamp}.dat and then attempts to salvage public/private62keys and master encryption keys (if the wallet is encrypted) into63a new wallet.dat. This should only be used if your wallet becomes64corrupted, and is not intended to replace regular wallet backups.66* Import $DataDir/bootstrap.dat automatically, if it exists.68Dependency changes69------------------71* Qt 4.8.2 for Windows builds73* openssl 1.0.1c75Bug fixes76---------78* Clicking on a bitcoin: URI on Windows should now launch Bitcoin-Qt properly.80* When running -testnet, use RPC port 18332 by default.82* Better detection and handling of corrupt wallet.dat and blkindex.dat files.83Previous versions would crash with a DB_RUNRECOVERY exception, this84version detects most problems and tells you how to recover if it85cannot recover itself.87* Fixed an uninitialized variable bug that could cause transactions to88be reported out of order.90* Fixed a bug that could cause occasional crashes on exit.92* Warn the user that they need to create fresh wallet backups after they93encrypt their wallet.95----------------------------------------------------96Thanks to everybody who contributed to this release:98Gavin Andresen99Jeff Garzik100Luke Dashjr101Mark Friedenbach102Matt Corallo103Philip Kaufmann104Pieter Wuille105Rune K.
